BIKEFITTING

  • A bad riding position shouldn’t stand in the way of your riding pleasure. Do you want to get rid of an uncomfortable feeling or pain when riding your bike? Do you want to optimize for more performance? With a good bike fit we will find a balance between: Comfort - Power - Efficiency - Injury prevention - Bike handling and Aesthetics

Fits are available for road bikes, commuter bikes, triathlon and cross-country mountain bikes.

  • At Echelon Bike Fit we take your issues seriously. We offer only dynamic bike fits. Also we make extensive use of the bike fitting jig. We believe a static bike fit where no cycling is involved has not much to do with bikefitting at all.

Neil Stanbury describes very well why we don’t need angle based bike fitting. We are firm believers of this philosophy and approach. We are fitting individuals, not averages:

THE BIKE FIT PROCESS

  • It all begins with an interview. I want to know all about your current goals and discomforts on the bike. I like to get to know you, so I can better understand what you need during the bike fit. I see bike fit as a collaboration between you - the rider - and the bike fitter.

  • Are there some physical limitations for you to ride a bike in a certain way? I want to know these things. I check your feet, stance, muscle asymmetries, flexibility and more. This way we will know better how you will behave on the bike.

  • All your current measurements from your bike will be transferred to the fitting jig. It will show me your current posture on the bike. This is your baseline. It always gives valuable information to see you riding in your current position. This is from where we start.

  • Then you start riding on the fit bike. Adjustments will be made by me while you are moving: making the fit 100% dynamic. Carefully and precisely - working together - we put all the bike contact points in the best place to suit your individual needs. We will find the position for you that rides the easiest, the most efficient and gives you maximum performance.

  • This is the part where your feet take the stage. First we look for the right arch support. We will check if you need any wedges underneath the forefoot or the heel to support your feet even better. Correction for leg length difference - if needed - will be made here as well. This is a part often overlooked during bike fits. It will make you relate more symmetrical with the bike. This results in more comfort and performance on the bike. Making sure you can ride the bike as long as you can go.

  • Now your position is completely tailor made for your needs I will transfer these measurements to your bike and get you riding in your optimal position. Your bike is now adjusted to your optimal settings. *Complicated adjustments may need extra work from the workshop.

  • After the fitting you will receive an report with all relevant measurements. These measurements can come in handy later down the road.
